BGR - Web Developer

Reporting into the Digital Consumer team leadership you’ll be working on a product that is a part of day-to-day life for millions of people, and what you do will define how those customers interact with the company on a daily basis. Must have HTML5, CSS & JavaScript, HTML, TDD/BDD React, TypeScript, and Cloud based experience, ideally AWS.

A bit about the role... 

You'll work within a team of other web developers, alongside mobile engineers, backend developers, product designers and managers, QA testers, data scientists and business analysts. You and your team(s) will be responsible for delivering the roadmap set out for the Digital area as well as continuously improving the current applications.

As a web developer in the Digital Consumer team you’ll own and contribute to a number of key areas on a weekly basis:

• Contributes to the technical decisions and roadmap for the Costa sites alongside, Senior Developers, Principal Engineers and Solution Architects, to find the right solutions for the digital domain.
• Code quality reviewing and standards maintaining.
• Work closely with our product teams to build new and innovative experiences.
• Be an efficient and responsible team member, communicate, participate, and help
• Analyse and optimise code for quality, efficiency, and performance.

Help the work on automating our development and delivery processes to build better quality products that allow us to move fast when making changes. As part of the Costa team you will be contributing to a number of different projects including:

• Globalisation of our technical stack – making our main technology stack scalable for the global markets we want to target.
• Personalisation – we want to use new technologies to really personalise Costa to our consumers and make their experiences the best they can be.
• Site improvements – we are continuously trying to improve our websites to provide the best consumer experience possible.

• Motivated and passionate about what you code and build.

• Proficient HTML5 (accessibility), CSS & JavaScript, HTML, styled components and chakra, Responsive Design, Cross-browser compatibility, REST, static site generators (Gatsby), Gitflow 
• JavaScript: TDD/BDD experience, React, TypeScript, ES2020, React Testing Library, NPM, Yarn 
• Cloud based experience, ideally AWS.
• Desirables: CSS in JS, GraphQL, API CMS experience (Contentful), Node JS 

• Unit and Integration Testing: Proficiency in writing unit and integration tests, with an understanding of test-driven development (TDD).
• Performance Optimisation: Understanding of optimisation techniques for site speed.
• Security Best Practices: Knowledge of web development and AWS environment security practices.

Location/Travel:

The role will be hybrid model with the expectation of being in the Sofia office 2-3 days per week as required. Some international travel may also be required on up to a quarterly basis e.g. to the UK to participate in face to face planning meetings with our central digital teams and stakeholders.
